Lara Trump: The Trump Administration Is Phasing Out Testing On Animals, But Don’t Expect The Media To Tell You

Lara Trump: The Trump Administration Is Phasing Out Testing On Animals, But Don’t Expect The Media To Tell You Lara Trump September 26, 2019 1:30 PM ET ArtemZ/Shutterstock There’s a good reason why you’ve probably never heard of President Trump’s success in promoting animal welfare — the media are desperate to move on from any story that humanizes this president. Earlier this month, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced its decision to reduce animal testing, with the goal of phasing out mammal studies completely by 2035. In addition, the agency will award $4.25 million in grants to various academic institutions “to advance the research and development of alternative test methods” and to ultimately “eliminate” the need for animal testing altogether. Make no mistake, this is great news for animal rights advocates — and the Trump administration deserves full credit for spearheading an ongoing campaign against animal cruelty. Sadly, the mainstream media doesn’...

Afghanistan war veteran mocked for taking service dog to gun buyback event

Afghanistan war veteran mocked for taking service dog to gun buyback event Emma Dangerfield 16:51, Sep 29 2019 “A man who took a bullet for his country is getting over the ordeal of being "interrogated" after he tried to get into a gun buyback event with his support dog in Canterbury. Dion Taka took his service dog, Delta, with him when he went to hand his guns over in Rakaia on Saturday. It was already a daunting prospect for the war veteran. Badly wounded when he was shot in Afghanistan in 2012 in the Battle of Baghak, he now lives with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and type-2 complex regional pain syndrome. For the past two-and-a-half years, Taka has been able to resume some of his independence with Delta by his side. She is able to recognise his anxiety and calm him down, and performs a raft of other duties including fetching medication. "It took me a couple of weeks to decide to go [to the gun buyback], but I knew I had to," Taka said. ...

That’s why it’s so hard to fathom how one 60-year-old woman could mistake the mellow, creamy taste of avocado with the sweat-inducing spice of wasabi,  reported The British Medical Journal  (BMJ) in a recent case study. While attending a wedding in Israel, the anonymous women had gobbled down a mouthful of wasabi — mistaking it for avocado. This unfortunate swap landed her in the hospital with a diagnosis of takotsubo cardiomyopathy, better known as “broken heart syndrome.” In the BMJ report, authors describe broken heart syndrome as a “left ventricular dysfunction that typically occurs in older w...

Beijing can’t stop Hong Kong’s thirst for freedom By Elisha Maldonado, New York Post, September 27, 2019 https://nypost.com/2019/09/27/beijing-cant-stop-hong-kongs-thirst-for-freedom/ Pro-democracy protestors walk with umbrellas in Hong Kong, AP photo  Hong Kong on Saturday will mark the fifth anniversary of the Umbrella Movement with yet another protest, one that the Hong Kong police say they’ll allow after having previously banned it. It’ll be a key moment in what has been months of unrest. What’s driving the massive discontent? In a word, freedom. “We can’t live in a society where people like [Chinese activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner] Liu Xiobo could be arrested and die in jail,” says Bonnie Leung, vice-convenor of Hong Kong’s Civil Human Rights Front, the group responsible for organizing three of the summer’s biggest protests. The people of Hong Kong have been sending the Chinese government a loud message: We don’t want what you’re peddling. We ...
