Exactly What Did The National Govt Do?

Image
Exactly What Did The National Govt Do? After only two and a half years of headline grabbing achievements from a great Labour led coalition government. Its easy to totally forget what the national government did with their nine long, dark years.. I know they raised taxes, Increased GST from 12% to 15%. And Started taxing children who delivered papers and circulars for pocket money Cant remember they did anything else... I remember John Key spent most of that time on holiday in Hawaii on the NZ Taxpayer What a total waste of 9 years..

Major demolition work to begin at new Dunedin Hospital site

Image
Major demolition work to begin at new Dunedin Hospital site  HON DR DAVID CLARK Health The Ministry of Health has awarded the site clearance and demolition works contract for the New Dunedin Hospital to Ceres New Zealand LLC, Health Minister Dr David Clark says. “It’s great to have Ceres NZ on board the project. They have decades’ worth of experience working on large demolition projects and they played a key role supporting the Christchurch rebuild,” David Clark said. “By New Zealand standards this is a large and complex project. The nature of the site requires consideration of a range of issues, including traffic management and safety, impact on neighbouring properties and businesses, disconnecting and re-routing on-site utilities and removal of hazardous materials such as asbestos. “I’m pleased we now have Ceres NZ ready and set to get on with this crucial and substantial work toward our new hospital very soon,” David Clark said. Starting with ar...

National govt was investigating countrywide fuel tax hike before 2017 election

Image
National govt was investigating countrywide fuel tax hike before 2017 election Potential tax increases were one of the main weapons used by National in its election battle. But documents suggest the Government has been considering its own bump in revenue-gathering to pay for transport spending. Shane Cowlishaw reports. The Government has been investigating fuel tax increases to plug holes in its transport budget, despite ruling them out during the election campaign. National announced plans in August to build 10 new roads of national significance at a cost of $10.5 billion. It is also facing a significant cost in meeting its share of the Auckland Transport Alignment Project (ATAP), an agreement between the Government and Auckland Council to develop the city’s transport system during the next 30 years. Before the election Labour announced it would, if elected, introduce a 10 cent regional fuel tax in Auckland to help meet transport costs, and suggested the Government was i...

The truth about the National party proposed roads

Image
The truth about the National party proposed roads The total cost of the repairs will be $25.2m with 56 per cent of that cost, or $14.1m, coming from taxpayers. The  expressway  has been  under repair  almost since it opened  in  February 2017 The leaky Kāpiti expressway's $25 million repair job is running nine months behind schedule, with bad weather blamed for the delay. Nearly 10 kilometres of the $649m expressway still needs to be fixed and the New Zealand Transport Agency says the work should be completed by June 2020, depending on the weather. In March 2019 the agency had  repaired 8.9 km and expected the remaining 15.8km would be finished in six months, again depending on the weather. Repair work stopped in July 2019 and began again at the end of September. The work was progressing well, NZTA Acting Senior Manager, Project Deliver Tony Fisher said. "There have been delays to the completion of the repair wor...

Simon Bridges has 'no intention of keeping' $100,000 donation that didn't exist

Simon Bridges has 'no intention of keeping' $100,000 donation that didn't exist Simon Bridges has "no intention of keeping" the $100,000 donation that he first claimed didn't exist at the centre of a Serious Fraud Office (SFO) investigation into the National Party's donations. Bridges said he feels "vindicated" that neither he nor his party is included in the SFO's formal charges laid this week against four individuals related to donations paid into a National Party electorate bank account. "I feel a sense that, as I'd always said, myself and the National Party had nothing to do with any of this, and that's sort of where we see it," Bridges told Magic Talk on Friday. Magic Talk host Sean Plunket told the Opposition leader the "issue remains" that the National Party received money that may have been illegally mishandled before it reached the party's accounts.  Bridges responded: "It's safe ...

$2.3 Mill For A Bankers Advice On Selling Our State Houses and other national govt corruption - June 2017 “While this Government won’t do a thing to fix our housing crisis, (other than paying for beneficiaries to live in short term motels at a cost of $22 million in 7 months) we are blowing $53m to build a pavilion in Dubai to try and help the dairy industry whose product is currently polluting our rivers. Here is a refresh on what the National Govt thinks is more important than the citizens of New Zealand. Ok, so over the last eight years what have John Key and the National Govt with the help of their supporters club (IE Maori Party, Act and Dunne) really done for the people of New Zealand?  Panama Papers, tax havens , blind trusts, out of control immigration, the under funding of hospitals, schools and all other social services of New Zealand under the guise of privatisation.  New Zealanders unable to buy there own homes, 305,000 children and their families in p...

First suspected case of coronavirus in New Zealand

Image
First suspected case of coronavirus in New Zealand A possible case of the new coronavirus has been found in Auckland, with test results expected on Saturday. Ministry of Health Director-General Dr Ashley Bloomfield said on Friday afternoon that the person fitted the definition of a suspected case and was being managed appropriately. The person had come forward to Auckland Hospital, and was in isolation there, he said. Bloomfield would not say if the person was from the Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicentre of the coronavirus epidemic, or a New Zealand citizen. There was "no blame or shame", he said. A pilot wearing a protective suit parks a cargo plane at Wuhan Tianhe International Airport in Wuhan in central China's Hubei Province, on January 28. Bloomfield had provided the Minister of Health with options for quarantine, but would not say where or how many options there were. The World Health Organisation has declared t...
