It's been four years since the last visit from a New Zealand Prime Minister and both sides say they are keen to resume face to face meetings.

He told RNZ political editor, Jane Patterson, there is room for discussion of sensitive issues, within limits.

RNZ political editor, Jane Patterson, is in China and filed this report.
