Large portions of New Zealand society can no longer trust anything the Prime Minister of New Zealand says like the Boy who cried Wolf, Christopher Luxon cried 14 layers of Management, an 84% increase spending in Government spending over six years caused all our inflation, and how unworkable policies are restoring law and order.
Luxon has deceived voters by suggesting CPI Inflation has been brought down – only recently in the past 10 months – and this has been achieved by National Party fiscal discipline which has been a good friend to Monetary Policy.
.
.
The ongoing dishonesty and evasiveness of the Prime Minister appears to be a deliberate strategy deployed by the National Party – as it carries on deceiving the public, omitting facts in broad daylight, claiming to have seen Org Charts that do not exist, slipping around what really happened and covering up their incompetent tracks and plans.
Yesterday ChlΓΆe Swarbrick could not get a straight answer from Luxon about when the Public will know the list of projects exempt from environmental protections under the fast track consenting bill. All Luxon would say is “soon” – but the truth is it’s been months and months and the list has been kept secret, away from the public during the passing of legislation in order to steer a smooth path without democracy sticking it’s beak in.
Totally understandable national party voters, supporters and donors are feeling they were sold a dud at the election. file: Johnny HD
The day before Willis and Luxon stood at what is now “the podium of lies” and said we will know Plan B to replace the iRex Ferries by the end of the year, while Luxon said the last advice received was months ago and Willis said they were still getting advice and testing proposals it it now be before the end of the year that New Zealanders will have to wait before National are confident that Plan B is ship shape.
That’s about a year to come up with Plan B and last time Willis was asked “when” her answer was this quarter – which meant right about now this week.
Most think Plan B involves falsely manipulating the real costs of the smaller less capable ferries project – by shifting the cost of Port Side infrastructure off the Government Books and semi privatising it – while refusing to say what the “BREAK FEE” was.
Even National Party voters are writing columns of discontent at this spectacular exercise in reckless political posturing that is going on and on and on…extending out into the great mists of time as ferries run adrift and aground.
Perhaps the announcement will be made in the days leading up to Christmas Day – to protect Nicola Willis – but wait there’s more – the entire savage cuts to the Public Service were not based on anything rational based on evidence – but instead an arbitrary senseless ideological judgement call that we need to get back to 2017 and that efficiency gains were ALWAYS possible by moving people around, shuffling deck chairs and slashing costs, dumping people onto the job seeker queue and crashing projects in their tracks.
People are getting increasingly fed up listening to how dumping 6000 people this year is all Labour’s doing and how cafes in Wellington are suffering because people are no longer buying coffee in town – so lets tighten up working at home for those who still have a job.
The disgraceful way Luxon signed up to the Treaty Principles Bill to grab power was followed by three months of ambiguous, blurred rhetoric about “we have no intention” but Luxon had traded social cohesion for power and now we face being dragged through six months of wasteful, polarising, unjust tyranny at the hands of David Seymour.
The recent stunt to cherry pick Auckland’s fall in assaults in the CBD area at the same time that nationwide crime figures were up only showed us the “dog trainer and soap salesman” show is prepared to distract attention to appear to be busy doing something about crime as it is up on their watch.
Willis and Luxon have contributed to deepening the slow down in GDP Growth and nurses, teachers and police are leaving on jet planes for Australia for better working conditions.
Doctors and Professors are calling out Casey Costello over Big Tobacco influencing health policy formation as Costello makes out she has no idea where those talking points came from and how they got into a document that she initially denied even existed.
Luxon is leading by shrugging his shoulder and playing dumb – he has not been briefed etc.
There’s been Shane Jones secretly meeting with miners and lashing out at Judges who he calls communists and a very tardy attempt to rein him back in – but only when it became obvious the law society was coming for the Government.
Again it’s loose lips Luxon – spouting on about what “an incredible job” the Minister is doing again – as he gaslights the nation – like a bullying psychopath – factually incorrect – chin up and feet planted like a stubborn bull.
We heard how energy shortages are all the fault of a 2018 offshore oil and gas ban which Simeon Brown and Luxon claim sent the wrong signal in a Climate Crisis and dozens of consented wind farms sat around unbuilt by an Electricity market that is not incentivised to get on with storage and renewables.
We need more “Gas and we need Coal” and it’s all Labour’s fault is the ridiculous narrative as Simeon barrels ahead to opt for the most expensive option as his only option – importing gas and building massive infrastructure to process it on arrival.
Speed kills and Luxon is all for the productivity gains as we tear up lower speed limits at great double costs and force Councils to hold referenda cos “we believe in localism” but it’s time they tightened their belts like cafe owners and recently sacked public servants have had to.
Naming and shaming councils if Luxon’s style as he calls NZ businesses C-Listers and blame Labour using lies that do not represent the facts and discredited polling shows – it’s working – of course those polls would say that.
.
.
There’s so much more to add – but Kiwis are sick of the dishonesty and there’s plenty of reasons to rightfully claim this is by far the worst government in living memory.
If Luxon were to say “they are eating the dogs, they are eating the cats” in response to questions about the economy – I am pretty sure we’d all just carry on as if that is now no longer something very unusual in New Zealand as we join the post truth era we see in American politics.
The notion that this is a deliberate manipulation of the direction of our political theatre seems obvious to most – as they remind me how this has been the way for ages now.
It’s hard to understand how a third of New Zealanders buy this dishonest Government’s spin – but we have our own Fox news media and sufficient apathy to manifest the ridiculous.
New Zealand can and must do better and it’s time to call this out all over the show.
What a shameful dishonest leader surrounded by his dishonest cabinet…the sooner they are gone the better.
